Why pets deserve the same care as humans

This is my speech about why pets deserve the same care as humans from term 3. Why pets deserve the same care as humans Pets all around the world are being loved, cared for and feed well. But not all animals are being treated the same. They are getting abused, killed and are begging for food. Hi I'm Poppy and today I'm talking about why pets deserve the same care as humans. Owners are taking granted for there animals not speaking. If there owners are hurting and neglecting their pets. Those animals aren't able to speak or say something. It's been estimated that there are 900 to 2,000 abused animals every year in the US. Puppy mills are large scale dog breeding operations that put profits on the health of the puppies. Many dogs with illnesses like kidney or heart disease stay in their position by their owners. Thousandddsss of greyhounds die each year some in the name of “selective breeding” before they ever touch a racetrack. Which brings me to my next point.y y Sadly, some people are unwilling or never spend the time and money to heal their sick or injured pets. About six million animals enter shelters every year. More than 50% of fur in the US comes from China, where millions of dogs and cats often have to go through traumatizing experiences, like bleeding and skin taken of them alive until they pass away. So if you wear any fur, there’s no sure way of knowing whose skin you’re in. What can you do to help. Foster or adopt an animal or pet, or fundraised for animal rights. There are many fundraisers that you can donate to help. Many different animals are used around the world for animal testing. They test to make your favourite cosmetic products, clothing items and hair dye. But the most common for testing are mice, fish, rats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, farm animals, birds, cats, dogs and pigs. And in some countries, monkeys and chimpanzees. They practice and test to help cure sicknesses and and desesses. But why dont they help to save our animals? Instead of listening to that depressing news, 3.2 million shelter animals are adopted each year from being homeless and neglected. That's millions of dogs, cats and more. When foster animals are adopted they know they are loved, and when you think about it you are saving a life when adopting. We are very lucky to have these animals in our home or in our lives. To protect and love us. Why does hurting these innocent pets and animals make you feel good? They are there for us so we should be too. {Pause}. I believe they should be respected as animals. They should have the right to their own freedom, their own families, and their own life. Animals should be treated the same as humans. In conlution I think animals should be treated right by being fed well, going for walks, not getting neglected or abused. All round loved and cared for. They make you smile, laugh and joyful. Thank you for listening.

The Plastic Crisis

The Plastic Crisis#savetheturtlesksksk We all know what plastic pollution is doing to our oceans, it has been like this for years. But it has gotten worse. More sea life are dying every day, different species are also on the verge of extinction. What is plastic pollution doing to our earth? Other than killing our sea life, the plastic pollution crisis is killing our beaches. From cigarette buts, plastic caps and more types of small plastics are being found on our beaches. Fish can eat it in the ocean, but birds can eat it on the beach. Our sealife is dying, and some species are on the verge of extinction. Plastic was made in 1907. Leo Baekeland invented Bakelite, the first fully synthetic plastic. That means no molecules were found from nature. Little did he know that his great invention would turn into a real-life nightmare. To reduce plastic pollution in our oceans and on beaches we can… use reusable Tupperware. Metal straws and plastic containers are very useful. Better than plastic wrap and single-use plastics. Single-use plastics are plastics that are not useful after the first time. For example plastic wrap or bottles, you can only use them one time. But reusable Tupperware is something you can use forever. Even if it’s plastic. The plastic pollution problem is not just killing our sea life but killing our oceans and land. If it ends up in our fish then we eat the fish. With other climate change and global warming problems, plastic pollution is not going to help. If we want to help we need to do it now by reducing plastic and single-use items and using reusable things. By Poppy

How climate change will affect insect species and insect-borne diseases

WALT: In room 4, we had to write an explanation about how climate change will affect insect species and insect-borne diseases.

How climate change will affect insect species and insect-borne diseases

How climate change will affect insect species and insect-borne diseases. One concern is how climate change will affect the spread of insect species and insect-borne diseases. These include Dengue fever, Malaria, Lyme disease, Nile virus, Yellow fever and much more. Those are spread through bites of vectors such as mosquitoes, ticks and flies.

Due to the warming of the climate more mosquitoes are appearing, because they carry those diseases there is more chance of them transmitting it. Diseases can spread quickly through animals and humans if they are not properly contained and treated. Warmer temperatures in climate change have already affected wildlife and agriculture systems. With extra greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, our earth is getting hotter. Due to the earth getting warmer more bugs are appearing, who transmit those diseases.

Vector-borne diseases: It is from an infection transmitted to humans and other animals by vectors such as mosquitos, ticks and fleas. They carry infections and diseases through there blood. Vector-borne diseases are diseases such as Dengue fever, Nile virus, Yellow fever, Malaria and more.  How to stop it: Other than trying to cool the earth down, to stop ever getting bitten by an insect that carries diseases you can wear light coloured long-sleeved pants and tops. You could also install window seals to keep them out.

If climate change is getting worse, so will insects and insect-borne diseases. Insects like vectors spread in warmer temperatures. If our earth is getting hotter, more insects that carry those diseases will appear. There are ways we can reduce those insects. We can wear protective gear/clothes, or join organisations and groups to help cool down the earth.

How to swim freestyle successfully

WALT: In room 4 we had to write new explanations about different topics.  I chose How to swim freestyle successfully

How to swim freestyle successfully

Being a good swimmer takes time, effort and patience. Every top swimmer has practiced hundreds of times and that is what makes them great. I’m telling you how to swim freestyle successfully.

To be a great swimmer you need to practice, laps and laps of swimming.  Many famous olympic swimmers have to practice for hours to be the fastest. Practice makes perfect. Freestyle comes in handy when you’re in trouble in the ocean. You’re having fun in the water but then, next thing you know your in a rip. Freestyle can help you get out and get you closer to land.

The types of swimming techniques are. Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly and Freestyle.  To help improve your freestyle technique, you can use a high elbow position, don’t lift your head and breathe. Just breathe on your side and use a neutral head position. For freestyle your hands have to be in a spooning position, and arms diving into the water.

Our core abdominal and lower back muscles help to make you faster and stronger. Your glutes make sure that your legs are moving like a mermaid to get faster and our pecs, hamstrings, shoulders, calves and biceps are all used when in a powerful stroke.

To be a great freestyle swimmer it takes patience, effort and a lot of practice. If you practice a lot and do laps after laps you could be in the olympics for freestyle swimming.

How crystals form

WALT: In-room 4 we had to write an explanation about something in science.

How crystals form

Have you ever wondered how crystals form? Or where those crystals in your jewelry come from? How long do they take to grow? Well, today I’m answering all your questions about “How crystals form”.

Its all starts with crystallization. Crystals form in nature, when some liquids cool and
start to harden. Molecules in the liquid gather together and try to make it stable and
solid. In nature, crystals can form when liquid rock, called magma cools. The word crystals come from the greek krystallos, which means ice.

How long does it for crystals to form? All crystals form the same way, but some different times. Just like normal atoms come together in a cluster. In the process it can take a
few days or thousands of years. Natural crystals come from the earth all form the
same way.

Some mood rings have either synthetic or natural liquid crystals, to change the
color according to the temperature. The ring is normally with a gemstone.
Either quartz or glass. Which is a clear capsule filled with thermochromic liquid
crystal. A heat changing liquid. Then has a thin sheet of liquid crystal.

The atoms all cluster together to grow crystals. Some rings called mood rings have synthetic or natural liquid crystals.  to change the color according to the temperature.
Which is a clear capsule filled with thermochromic liquid crystal. Then has a thin sheet of liquid crystal. Now you know how crystals are made.

How to be a good sibling

In-room 4, we had to write an explanation about how to be a good sibling.

How to be a good sibling

Being a sibling is not always the best. Fighting, yelling and bickering to each other can get sometimes annoying. To be a good sibling you are able to show empathy, care and love.

To be a good sibling you could help if they ever get stuck on their homework or school work. This probably won't work if you have older siblings. If they are lonely you could play a game, do something fun or help build your relationship.

If they are feeling down help them feel better or build them back up again. Or if they are hurt show that you care. If you show empathy towards your siblings they might show it back.

Trying not to fight is impossible. Not being cheeky or starting an argument can help. If you start bickering and fighting back and forth it might escalate into and fight or an argument. Don't let a little bickering with your siblings destroy your relationship.

Being fair and sharing your stuff can build assurance between your siblings. If you trust each other with your stuff you wouldn’t start as many fights.

My conclusion to be a good sibling is that you should love, care and help them no matter what even if they are on your last nerve.

Windy waters

WALT: For the Hiwi the Kiwi show, we had to write a narrative about lessons in the water.

Windy waters

It was one stormy day. “Boom, crash” the waves crashed on the sandy shore at  Ahipara. I and mum suggested we stay home by the warm crackling fire. But dad, oh dad just had to go out. We loaded our boat onto the windy waters. “Swish, swash” the boat rocked. “Woah” dad ran over to the other side of the boat. “Erkkk.” The boat creaked. Off we went, me and mum feeling like we were going to be sick. We all remembered our life jackets on a day like this. We cast our fishing line, me and mum still feeling nauseous. “I’ve got one yelled dad!” We excitedly ran over. Dad moaned and groaned trying to get this fish out. “Ah ha.” It flipped and wiggled all over the deck. Dad pulled out the ruler. He was about to pick it up with his bare hands. I quickly stopped him. “You need to use a cold wet cloth to pick it up with dad.” He questioned my comment. “All right then”, he measured the fish, still with a wet cloth wrapped around it. “26 only 26!!!” Dad yelled. “Better get a good one soon.” After hours of waiting, feeling sick and catching no good sized fish, Mum finally got one. She pulled and tugged on the rod. It felt like years, after she got it in. “This ones a big one” I said. Without questioning dad carefully threw it back. “Hey why did you do that yelled” mum madly. “It was pregnant” said dad. “We want more kaimoana for years to come, don't we, that’s why we put it back.” We gathered up our gear and headed home. “What a day,” I said “what a day”!

How the environment is being affected by climate change

WALT: In room 4, we had to write explanations with different topics. I wrote mine about climate change.

How the environment is being affected by climate change
Climate change is everywhere, animal habitat, air, water and farmland. Us humans have been on here for 200,000 years and we did not think to help or change something? Today I’m telling you why the environment is being affected by climate change.

Yeah, sure we do have people and kids fighting for climate change. Greta Thunberg, Hindou Oumarou Ibrahim, Rhiana Gunn-Wright and more. “You weren’t going to solve the problem with just solar panels” says Rhiana Gunn-Wright.

Scientist found that 2015 to 2018 were the hottest years recorded. We all know that our ice is melting because of the heat. The Cryosphere-the ice on earth is melting. Think of an ice pack as the ice on earth. The sun or heat melts the ice pack. Just like how global warming and climate change is melting the ice.

The weather is getting very extreme. Hurricanes like Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Dorian. These hurricanes are and have been ruining houses, buildings, homes and people's lives.

Humans and animals habitats are getting ruined due to climate change. Polar bears and other ice animals are dying, from their homes melting or breaking from climate change. Recently 80 percent of The Amazon Forest has burnt down. The amazon forest gives 20 percent of the world's oxygen. People lived there and it was home to many species of animals.

We know our earth is dying, but little changes in your routine can help. Drive and fly less, eat less meat, reuse electricity, save water and look after our planet.

How an egg becomes bouncy

WALT: For the science fair at Ahipara school. We had to write about something to do with science. I wrote an explanation about how an egg becomes bouncy.

             How an egg becomes bouncy
Have you ever wondered how your science experiment in class worked? Or how a hard egg turns into a bouncy rubbery egg? Have you ever wondered how an egg becomes bouncy?

The shell of an egg is called calcium carbonate. When you pop it in vinegar bubbles appear. The calcium carbonate in the shell has a reaction to the acid in the vinegar. The calcium carbonate then produces carbon dioxide.

How to turn an egg bouncy. Carefully put in the raw egg in a cup of white vinegar. After 1-3 days the shell will be nearly dissolved. Take it out of the cup and rinse it under tap water. Now you can test if it is bouncy.

The shell dissolves because of the vinegar. The vinegar is a weak acid. The shell is made of calcium carbonate which makes a chemical reaction when the egg and vinegar meet. The chemical reaction turns the calcium carbonate into carbon dioxide. That's why there would be some bubbles. Now you know how an egg becomes bouncy.

For Math, Mrs Peters has got our groups to times numbers by 200m [the length of our feild].

For one of them, we had to times 10 by 200.
what we did- 1x2=2   10 x 200 =2000m.

another one was- 9 x 200   9x2=18    9x200= 1800m

then we added both of the answers- 2000m + 1800m =?       2+18=20. we used a vertical algorithm. then our answer was 3800

Clay sea creatures in Room 5.

In Room 5, we had to make a clay sea creature based on the drawings that we did in our topic books. I made a sea turtle with a slice of pizza and a doughnut. Lots of other people have done different clay pieces .when our clay dries we will be able to paint them.

WALT: Going back and re-doing the wrong math questions.

For math in room 5, we have to go back and redo the wrong math questions.
I have done my whole sheet cause they were all wrong.  I have been learning to round each number to the nearest 10.
e.g 1031- it would be 1030 cause you would just take the 1 off the 31 to make 30. then add the 10 to make 1030.

How to Hyperlink

WALT: Write about our "google docs ninja challenge"

How to hyperlink

e.g comments

Publish your comment on the person's blog then copy it. ( ctrl shift C). Highlight the URL up the top,  then go into your table, docs or what you're working on and highlight a word or their name. In the top of your docs tools bar, there will be a chain like thing next to highlight color (ctrl+K).  Click it then it will take you to TEXT and LINK. Copy and paste your URL into the link then apply.

While doing the ninja challenge I was able to learn shortcuts for the chrome book.
I enjoyed learning the different ways to the chrome book and how to use it.
Did you learn anything with this post?

                                               The story of Ahipara

WALT: Re-tell the story of Ahipara

Two of the tribes in the north many many years ago were Te Apouri and Te Rarawa. The two tribes were constantly at war over the ownership of 90-mile beach. They had a lot of battles over owning the beach, and it was eventually the chief Poroa of Te Rarawa who ended it. Poroa drew a mark across the beach as a boundary for both tribes. Te Apouri were to stay to the northern end of the beach and Te Rarawa would stay to the south. To make sure no more wars would happen Poroa was given a wife, a lady of the name Whangatauatia. When Poroa returned two his pa near the southern end of the beach, he renamed his pa Whangatuatia in honour of his wife.

Peace between the tribes stayed for lots of years, and eventually, Poroa died. Such was his mana. A tapu was put on the beach for a year. During this time a rahui was put on the gathering of all bird, fish and shellfish. When the tapu was fifted a great feast was heled.  The first fish and shellfish caught were cooked over a special fire and prayers were said over the food. The food was placed in a curtan place as an offering. It was from this offering that Ahipara was named.

Ahi- Fire
Parapara-  The roasted fish that was put aside as an offering

I think I did well on the Re tell and the pictures.
Next time I could add another paraghaph or write more anout the two tribes.

The Amazon Rainforest

WALT: In room 4,  we had to write an explanation about climate change. If it is either deforestation, sea levels rising or climate change. I wrote an explanation about The Amazon rainforest on fire.

                  🔥The Amazon Wildfires 🔥

The Amazon rainforest was once a moist, green, healthy jungle. Now half of the Amazon is on fire, a burnt and dry wasteland. The fires have caused more than 200 species to die or be on the verge of extinction. Ancient trees have been cut or burnt down, and homes of native Amazon tribes have disintegrated. Two-thirds of the world’s plants live there.

The wildfires are not just affecting Brazil, but us as well due to CO2 being released from trees burning, and not being able to take it back in. Bright blue skies have turned dark grey and are polluted. The Amazon rainforest or “The lungs of our planet” produces 20% of the world’s oxygen. From June to December most of the Amazon is dry. Most of it is caused by human activity, clearing space for farmland.
7,000 square miles are in flames, an area just smaller than New Jersey.

Amazons president Jair Balsa Naro encouraged deforestation in the Amazon for farmland. They have lost half of the natural habitat of this area since 2013. Brazilian scientist George Georgiadis is fighting to protect everything that lives here. Due to the Amazon rainforest burning and in other places it is not helping his mission. George and his wife hid cameras to see what animals live there and what they need to survive.

Giant otters have been saved from extinction. Keeping track of the cameras leads to new discoveries. Some trees in the Amazon are really important. Taking the sunlight and water and putting it back in the atmosphere.

Due to the Amazon rainforest being on fire, Brazil is not the only one in trouble. The Amazon produces 20% of the world’s oxygen. Without trees to take in carbon dioxide, and produce new oxygen were in trouble too.

What happens on school camp

A few weeks ago room 4 had to write 3 explanations in 2-3 weeks. One of the topics was "what happens at school camp". Here is mine.

What happens at school camp

Camp is a time for kids to chill, have fun and learn lots of new things. They go to camp to experience things about ancient places, their country and all round to have fun. School camps allow kids to work with nature, their education and have fun with friends.

At our school, us year 6, 7 and 8 all go on a school trip. To a fun theme park or an educational walk. Like Tane Matuta, a marae and an adrenaline pumping time at Rainbows End. This year at camp we are going to Adrenaline Adventure Park in Whangarei.

Before going to camp we all have to load up in one van or in multiple vans. To pack for camp, we need the basics. Toothbrush, toothpaste, and a hairbrush. But in our case, Adrenalin Adventure Park is a water park. So we need lots of togs. School camp is a time to spend with friends. We get to spend time outside talking and playing.

Camp is to be free from the full-on schedule at home and school. School camp makes kids use team management. To build, make and create something cool. If we're outside we can experiment with huts, building things and bonding with classmates and friends.

At camp gives us kids and adults needed free time to play. Camp is living where kids can relax, laugh, and be silly all day long.

Why homework is a student’s worst nightmare📚✏

This is my first piece of persuasive writing for this term to convince you we should never have homework.

Why homework is a student’s worst nightmare📚✏

“Homework is super helpful in our education and it is so much fun’’ said no kid ever. Today I am talking about homework, how it drives you insane, or in other words...  a student's worst nightmare. So strap in because homework is coming to an end.

I feel that having lots of homework is not the best. Well in my opinion. After getting home from a long day at school, homework is the last thing we want to do. Firstly we might have some sort of sport after school. Maybe music or places to be. We need to let our brain relax, chill and rest. It's fine to read before bed or when we wake up in the morning, but having lots of that deadly spelling words and math will surely make us stressed.

Sure it might help us with our education but that is what school is for. It's good to have a break from being at school for 6 hours!! On Friday the 26th of July {the day to hand our homework in } only 14 students out of 27 handed their homework in. That shows that kids really don't their homework and desperately don't want to do it. Why make us do it if we don't even think or go near it. Mum and Dad are not huge fans of homework. Yeah, they do want a good education for me but getting home for work, meetings then having to cook dinner,  homework is the last thing they want to do. It's not about being lazy it is about fitting it into our schedule.

Research says that homework can affect and cause a student’s physical and mental health problems. A study by Stanford University shows that 56% of homework is a primary source of stress. Too much homework can cause lack of sleep. Headaches, exhaustion and weight loss.
A student says “homework is pointless, and I don't get why we do it cause no one does it anyway. ”

In other words, we should tone down homework or stop it because it’s surely not helping our education, home life or letting our brains chill.

Science

🗼For science room 4 had to make wind resistant towers, made out of playdough and sticks.
We planned out what we were going to make. After 5 different attempts of making the towers we go it.  we got inspired by the Eiffel tower 🗼and its structure. Turned out it worked. the wind from the fan was not able to knock it down. we placed second.🗼

GET AWAY TOWN

WALT:  In room 4 we were allowed to publish a piece of writing that was flash fiction. Me and my friend we also able to publish it on paper and make it a book to put in our class library.

Chapter 1   The door

Piece by piece the street was disappearing. In the distance a door shined, sending golden beams of light out across the sky. Touching the clouds and turning them blush pink. The light reflected through windows and doors. All that was now left of the street was the door.

Audrey stepped scarcely through the door noticing two different worlds. In Atembrug were she grew up, it was all normal. Musky, foggy and damp. But in Get Away town it was all rainbows and unicorns? Something was up, well she didn't think so. Her dusty and mucky clothes were still on her. Her hair was up in a messy bun, still, nothing had changed.

She sees signs saying “GET AWAY town” in capital letters. She thought she was in paradise. Ice cold drinks, crystal clear waters, smooth music in her ears. Little did she know it was the complete opposite world.  The signs meant GET AWAY from this town, the unicorns were real people trying to get her and she was trapped. None of this came to her mind.

She stayed there for a few days before noticing something was up.  People following her even though nobody was living there. On the 8 day of being there, it all turned black. The stuffed animals, unicorns and even the water turned pitch black. She felt someone was behind her tying her arms up. She looked back but nobody was there. She saw something black go over her head, all that she saw was black thoughts run through her head.  The world became strange it was no longer her get away.

Chapter 2   Black bag

As the bag went over her head, she fell into a deep sleep. When she awoke she saw things. People with inflatable masks shaped like teddy bears and puppies. Guns on a wooden 2-metre table beside them. She pretended to be asleep so she could, eavesdrop on the conversation. “Where’s the mind gun, give it to me now,” said a deep dark voice. “Erase her mind NOW’’. Shortly after getting part of her memories lost, a person commented “why don't we keep her. Play more tricks on her”.The leader listened.

They dropped her on an old musky alley filled with tall buildings and spray painted bins. A billboard with a family as the picture, holding strawberry ice cream. She paid very close attention to every little thing as if there was a sign. She followed a sign with the name “normal town”.  As soon as she stepped foot in the town her clothes changed, pink. Audrey had Pink shoes, pink skirt, and even her gloves and makeup were pink. She camouflaged in the herds of pink people she had to find a way out of this world.

It was a perfect world. In a bad way. She looked at the people moving in sync pushing kids on the swing all in the same time even laughing in sync, what was this. She stayed on the street that night but when she woke up people were walking past doing the same thing over and over. It was not right. She tried to get out of there before she knew it crowds of pink and blue were trailing behind her. She ran. Faster than ever. It felt like a merry go round. Round and round to the next world.

Chapter 3  Perfect perfection

She had been running for several hours. Still, with a pink covered body, she continued to trudge along. The only sounds she could hear were her stilettos tapping along the ground. She tripped. Before she knew it, she had fallen down something dark and long. If felt like she had been there for years. Not knowing what to do. Or what's happening. What to say or to yell. She dropped on to the hard and dirty ground. Almost landing on thousands of pounds of concrete. It was pitch black. All that she could see were vines growing of large trees. As if it was a jungle.

She looked up to see how to get out, all she saw was a small hole of yellow light. The thick treetops covered the sky leaving that one patch of the yellow light. She looked down to where the yellow piercing light was leading, what she saw she couldn’t believe. A flower. A flower in this old ugly dead land. She walked towards it. She grabbed the roots out of the ground. Leaving dirt scattered all over the place. The ground sister shook. Still holding on to the flower she saw that it was growing rapidly. She held on with dear life. It brought her to the top of another world.

All that the sign would say was ’’welcome back ’’. Was she home. Back to get away town or in another world. She didn’t recognise this place, tho she recognises the person sitting next to her.

Chapter 4   Back in time

She was sitting next to her great grandfather. Seeing him load his gun and shoot, made her cry. She never met him. All she saw were photos of him and his wife. Or him at the war. Her dad kept the postcard that he sent him. Day after day. Months then to years, he collected every single one. But on the 5th of April 1917, he did not receive one.

She saw him get shot. She smelt the gunpowder. The trenches deep and so were the mud. “why me...why is it me”. She gets dizzy. Her mind going round like a rollercoaster she can't stop falling, swaying. She is gone. Sunk into the mud. She finally wakes up, where is she? a new world or back to the start…

FREE WRITING sparrow

WALT: For free time we were able to write a short narrative from pobble365.

Sparrow 🐦

For many years the piano had stood in silence surrounded by echoes and memories of the past. Tiffany walked slowly into the there old creaky attic. Quietly walking up to the old baby grand piano her and her grandmother used to play on.  Things the piano had witnessed, Glorious concerts that delighted the countless ladies and gentleman. A wave of laughter and joy. How the piano had shone under stadium lights.  How its keys had sung the most beautiful melodies. She ran her fingers down the cover of the keys. Leaving dust marks all down it.

Memories ran through her mind. Flashbacks. Getting taught songs and finally playing them. Having family gatherings around the piano while they play it. She missed her grandmother and the love she gave her. Only one thing reminded Tiffany about her grandmother. Every day a sparrow would porch on their window sill. At the same time every day. Tiffany thought it was a bit weird but her grandmother thought it was cute. They named it Cullen, the meaning of happy. Every day Cullen the sparrow would porch at the same place. On the same window sill and at the same time. And every day they would play the same song. She knew that her grandmother was delighted for having her granddaughter with her and looking at a little friend every day. Now, everything was different.

Tiffany's mind went back to normal. Sitting still on the riped leather piano seat. Leaving salty teardrops on the dust. Her mind was filled with memories and joy with her grandmother. It was not fair, she was not the same. Tiffany's mother tiptoed up to the top of the staircase.  She stood there before tiffany noticing. “I know she's is gone and I know you miss her. We all do. But she is in a better place.”. “ no shes not. She loved where she was. She did not have to go”. Tiffany's heart drops. She stumbled on the ground and cried. It felt like weeks she had been crying.

All she wanted was her grandma back.

How Makeup Is Made💄

WALT:  A few weeks ago we were able to write an explanation about how things are made or about a celebrity and things like that. I chose to make up cause it is the best thing EVER!!

How Makeup Is Made💄

Have you ever wondered how your favourite makeup products are made? If they are waterproof? Or ideal for dry, sensitive or oily skin? Makeup is to cover up the blemishes on your face, but I'm writing about how it is made.

ColourPop Lippie Stick 💄

How they make the creamy ColourPop lippie stick. Liquid solvents are mixed with the dry coloured pigments. It gets turned into a paste then rolled out in a mill, three times.
Then wax is added to give the lipstick body. Lipsticks may be made from several waxes such as beeswax, ozokerite and candelilla wax. Because of its high melting point, carnauba wax is a key ingredient in terms of strengthening the lipstick. Various oils and fats are used in lipsticks, such as olive oil, mineral oil, cocoa butter, lanolin, and petrolatum.

The mixture is baked for hours then cooled and solidified. Then it is melted again and moulded in shape. It cools and solidifies.  Excess lipstick is scraped off.  The workers put it in the tubes without being touched. They do one final test on the lipstick then pop it into the packaging.

ColourPop Super Shock Eyeshadows

First, scientists mix the base. powder base is added to the Beaker. The liquid mixture is added. secret Gel Like ingredients is added as well. Which gives them that creamy texture and no fallout. then they blend the mixture. The mixture is Blended 30 minutes. Then they choose the pigments.  Repugnant are selected and mixed. They use different shades of pigments like pink yellow blue purple and red.  Mix the pigment.  combining pigment into a base. Pigments and Pearls are added to the base. They press the shadow into the base of the eye shadow. The formula is pressed into eyeshadow pots. And stamp with colour pop signature. The containers are labelled too. Now they are ready to wear.

Bare Minerals Powder Foundation

Red, blue and yellow pigments are used in the bare minerals powder foundation.  Bare minerals have over 30 shades of foundation. They make it so you can have a natural finish on your skin.  The first step is making a BareMinerals powder. A technician makes a blend of titanium, mica and zinc. This blend is mixed with red yellow and black pigments until it’s a perfect shade. When it's done it is sent to a factory to be produced on a much larger machine. A mixer mixes an exact amount of powder to replicate the pigment in the lab. They turn on the button and away it goes. Sometimes the colour does is not come out right. So they need to put it through a compounder. The compounder compounds all the particles and the right shade of pigment come out. The mixture turns from a light white, into the perfect shade of powder. Before it’s sent to the line for packaging the workers test it one more time on themselves. The powder is transferred into big barrels. Even Bare Essentials is made and packaged there. Then its packaged it's sent out.

And all of these amazing products are vegan and or cruelty-free!! Were your interested or surprised by anyways these products were made?

Healthy Eating Explanation

WALT: For writing this week, we had to write an explanation about "how to be healthy". We could choose things from healthy eating, a healthy routine, what to do to be healthy and why do you need to exercise. I choose -why do we need to exercise?...

Why do we need to Exercise?

Exercising is a very important part of our life. It makes us healthy and fit. It can help reduce the chance of any health issues. Physical activity or exercise can improve your health and prevent the risk of sicknesses like type two diabetes, cancer and Cardiovascular disease.

Physical activity and exercise can have long term health benefits. There are many views on how to exercise, and it helps people with depression. By exercising you can reduce your risk of a heart attack, to manage your weight better, have lower blood cholesterol and lower the risk of type two diabetes. Many people think that being healthy is a difficult task that involves lots of dieting and time at the gym, but that's not true. By making some simple changes to your routine and setting small goals for yourself.  You could start a daily routine of making healthier choices when it comes to eating, being active, and sleeping.

Your body was designed to walk, run, skip, dance, push and pull and move. Exercise until the last century, people had to engage in moderate to perform active daily tasks. People now drive cars, work while sitting at a desk and sit still watching movies and playing video games. Exercise functions to fill the gap between our decreased daily physical activity and our body's natural need to move in order to remain fit and healthy.

Our muscles connect to our bones via tendons and ligaments, they work like levers to support our bones. When you use your muscles regularly, you stimulate the maintenance and growth of muscle tissue. Individuals who don't exercise regularly risk muscle atrophy that can lead to weakness, poor posture and a decline in daily functional health.

Regular physical activity can improve your muscle strength and boost your endurance. Exercise delivers oxygen and nutrients to your tissues and helps your cardiovascular system/ blood vessels work better. And your heart and lungs health improves too. In order for people to stay healthy aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity every day.

If you want to lose weight, maintain weight loss or meet specific fitness goals, you may even need to exercise more. Exercise can help keep your body at a healthy weight and can help a person age well.
